"Eddie's Teddy" is a song from theatrical and cinematographic productions of The Rocky Horror Show since 1973 to this day, including the 1975 original film, the 2015 tribute production celebrating 40 years, and the 2016 reimagining film. Music and lyrics were composed by Richard O'Brien back in 1972 while the original musical arrangements are from Richard Hartley.
This song is not included in the 1973 Original London Cast recording because the album was recorded before "Charles Atlas Song", "Charles Atlas Song (Reprise)", "Eddie's Teddy", and "Planet Schmanet, Janet" were added to the show. Nonetheless, these songs were already written just as the rest of the music.
Lyrics (Roxy 1974)
Dr. Scott:
From the day he was born, he was trouble
He was a thorn in his mother's side
She tried in vain
Narrator:
But he never caused her nothing but pain
Dr. Scott:
He left home the day she died
From the day she was gone, all he wanted
Was rock'n'roll, porn and a motorbike
Shooting up junk
Narrator:
He was a low down cheap little punk
Dr. Scott:
Taking everyone for a ride
Dr. Scott and company:
When Eddie said he didn't like his teddy
You knew he was a no good kid
When he threatened your life
With a switchblade knife
Frank-N-Furter:
What a guy
Janet Weiss:
Makes you cry
Dr. Scott:
And I did
Columbia:
Everybody shoved him, I very nearly loved him
I said hey listen to me, stay sane inside insanity
But he locked the door and threw away the key
Dr. Scott:
But he must been drawn into something
Making him warn me in a note which read
Company:
What's it say, what's it say?
Dr. Scott:
"I'm out of my head..."
Narrator:
"Hurry or I may be dead..."
Dr. Scott:
"They mustn't carry out their evil deeds"
Dr. Scott and company:
When Eddie said he didn't like his teddy
You knew he was a no-good kid
But when he threatened your life
With a switchblade knife
Frank:
What a guy
Janet:
Makes you cry
Dr. Scott:
And I did
Frank:
What a guy
Janet:
Makes you cry
Dr. Scott:
And I did
