"The Rocky Horror Show: Original London Cast Recording" is the soundtrack of the original theatrical production of "The Rocky Horror Show" in 1973. This is the first released soundtrack related to Rocky Horror. Although the 19 songs had already been written, only 15 songs appear on this sountrack because at the time of recording, only those fifteen songs were part of the stage show.
All music and lyrics were written by Richard O'Brien. The original musical arrangements are by Richard Hartley, who also plays keyboards. Despite being the first sountrack, it has the least impact of all, since subsequent Rocky Horror productions took the musical arrangements of the 1974 Roxy version or the film version.
Most of the lyrics differ greatly from other versions, in some words or even in whole verses. An example of this is that Rocky Horror has a verse on "Touch a Touch Me" that was removed in all subsequent soundtracks.
The lead singers include Richard O'Brien, Christopher Malcolm, Julie Covington, Patricia Quinn, Little Nell, Tim Curry, Rayner Bourton, Paddy O'Hagan, and Jonathan Adams. Bourton and O'Hagan would be the only of all his co-stars who would record this album only, since the rest would record other soundtracks later on.
