"Over At the Frankenstein Place" is a song from theatrical and cinematographic productions of The Rocky Horror Show since 1973 to this day, including the 1975 original film, the 2015 tribute production celebrating 40 years, and the 2016 reimagining film. Music and lyrics were composed by Richard O'Brien back in 1972 while the original musical arrangements are from Richard Hartley. Context[]
Brad Majors and Janet Weiss set out on a trip to visit their former tutor Dr. Scott, but on the way the car got a flat tire and they had to stop. Brad remembers that a few miles ago they passed a castle and both decide to get out of the car and go there to try to find some help.
Lyrics[]
- Lyrics from the 1973 original London stage production:
Janet:
In the velvet darkness of the blackest night
Burning bright, there's a guiding star
No matter what or who, who you are
Brad y Janet (company):
There’s a light (Over at the Frankenstein Place)
There’s a light (Burning in the fireplace)
Janet:
There’s a light, light...
In the darkness of everybody’s life
Brad:
I can see the flag fly
I can see the rain
Just the same - there has got to be
Something better here - for, you and me
Brad y Janet (company):
There’s a light (Over at the Frankenstein Place)
There’s a light (Burning in the fireplace)
Brad:
There’s a light, light...
In the darkness of everybody’s life
Riff Raff:
The darkness must go
Down the river of nights dreaming
Flow morphia slow let the sun and light
Come streaming into my life
Into my life
Brad y Janet (company):
There’s a light (Over at the Frankenstein Place)
There’s a light (Burning in the fireplace)
Brad, Janet, and company:
There’s a light, light...
Brad y Janet:
In the darkness of everybody’s life
